The core issue is that this denial pushes away the very truth of God. God's truth acknowledges our brokenness and His perfect standard. Claiming sinlessness means we're not living in the reality of God's light, which exposes everything, or in the reality of our own human condition. It's a rejection of both God's holiness and His grace in dealing with our sin.
