1 Corinthians 12:4-7

The amazing thing here is how Paul immediately counters any idea that these spiritual gifts might cause division. He emphasizes that despite the variety of gifts given, the source is singular – the one, same Spirit – making them all expressions of God's unified work. This means our differences in giftedness are meant to showcase God's richness, not our own distinctiveness.
Now there are varieties of gifts, but the same Spirit; and there are varieties of service, but the same Lord; and there are varieties of activities, but it is the same God who empowers them all in everyone. To each is given the manifestation of the Spirit for the common good.
English Standard Version (ESV)
Paul is addressing divisions within the Corinthian church, where people were boasting about their spiritual gifts as if they made them superior to others. He's about to explain that these diverse gifts all come from the same Holy Spirit and are meant to work together, just like different body parts, to build up the whole community. This sets the stage for his famous "love chapter" in the next section.
Ever felt like you're totally different from other believers? That's not a bug, it's a feature!
Paul kicks off this section by highlighting a beautiful paradox: incredible variety in spiritual gifts, but absolute unity in their source.
All Different, All One
Why does the Spirit give us different talents? It’s not for show, but for service.
The core purpose behind the Spirit’s distribution of gifts isn't to make individuals famous or to create spiritual celebrities. It’s about building up the community.
