Generations are built on more than just the famous names. Sometimes, the most significant legacies begin with those who are easily overlooked.
Beyond the Main Line
This verse is a genealogical record, and often, these lists can feel dry. But look closely at verse 14. It names the sons of Manasseh, and then it highlights a particular lineage: Asriel, born to Manasseh's concubine, an Aramean woman.
This is significant because it shows that God's plan and the unfolding of history aren't limited to the most prominent or expected lines. Even through relationships that might be seen as less conventional or powerful, God works to bring about His purposes. Asriel's line, though perhaps not as widely celebrated as others, is recorded because it's part of the greater tapestry of Israel's story.
