David was living large in his palace, but something was bothering him. It wasn't about his own comfort, but about the dwelling place of God.
A Kingdom Established, A Sanctuary Neglected
David had just experienced a series of incredible victories. God had secured his throne, defeated his enemies, and promised him an enduring dynasty (1 Chronicles 17:7-14). He was finally settled in a beautiful palace of cedar, a symbol of his own success and stability.
Yet, David's heart wasn't fully at rest. He looked at his own luxurious home and then contrasted it with the place where God's presence was symbolized – the simple tent housing the Ark of the Covenant. This stark difference sparked a conviction within him.
